Sanford Police Special Response Team

The Sanford Police Department Special Response Team took part in its first operation in 1999. Since then, the members of the team have continued to attend progressive training to develop the team's abilities to handle high risk situations. The team has grown from a simple perimeter team to a group of highly trained officers devoted to serving the citizens of Sanford/Springvale during times of need.

The Special Response Team has a variety of equipment and tools to aid them during calls for service. The team consists of entry personnel, precision marksmen, crisis negotiators, and command level officers. All team members have specialized training in their respective duties and continually train to keep these skills sharp. The team has participated in drug warrant service, fugitive apprehension, barricade calls, and for several years, assisted with Presidential security issues both in Sanford and Kennebunkport.

The Sanford Police Department Special Response Team has recently partnered with the York County Sheriff's Department to aid in its missions. The partnership continues to grow and pool its resources to better serve the community.
